Pakistan often uses comments made by Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi to attack Prime Minister Modi and the Indian Forces. This is because some of his statements are critical of India and its government, and Pakistan uses those words to make India look weak or divided. Anurag Thakur recently labelled Rahul Gandhi as ‘ Lashkar-e- Rahul’ and his party as ‘ Islamabad National Congress’. His comments were nasty and of personal nature and below the belt. But why does Rahul Gandhi continually leaves himself wide open and keeps scoring own goal. Thakur accused Gandhi and the Congress party of echoing anti-India sentiments, spreading propaganda that is favourable to Pakistan, and disrespecting the Indian armed forces—especially during national security crises like Operation Sindoor.
Why Pakistan Uses Rahul Gandhi’s Statements
1. Rahul Gandhi says things like the Indian government is not handling military problems well, Pakistan shares those words to show that even Indian leaders don’t trust their own country. That helps Pakistan prove its own political points.
2. Pakistan’s newspapers, TV channels, and social media accounts quickly share these statements. It makes people think there is trouble or disagreement in India.
3. Pakistan uses Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of India to tell the world, “Look, even Indian leaders agree with us.” This can make India look worse in important global meetings or discussions.
4. Pakistan turns Rahul’s statements into memes or simple messages and spreads them online to try and weaken India’s image. They use humour and messaging to win over young audiences or those using social media.
Is Rahul Gandhi Naïve or Just Making Mistakes?
Critics say Rahul Gandhi is careless, or even foolish, for not being more careful with his words. They believe that, as a national leader, he should think more before speaking, especially on serious issues like the army or national security. If his words are helping India’s enemies like Pakistan, they say that’s a big problem.
Supporters say Rahul Gandhi is just doing his job. In a democracy, opposition leaders are supposed to question the government. Supporters believe that it is unfair to accuse him of helping Pakistan when he is trying to point out problems in India.
Rahul Gandhi has become the “poster boy of Pakistan’s propaganda” due to his persistent criticism of the Indian government and armed forces, which, according to Thakur, aligns with Pakistan’s narrative.
When Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Modi “surrendered” to external (US) pressure during an India-Pakistan standoff, Pakistani lawmakers, media, and even ministers amplified his comments to argue that India’s leadership is weak or subservient.
Statements from Rahul Gandhi and Congress
A. such as questioning Indian military decisions or suggesting that the government informed Pakistan before security operations.
B. are seized by Pakistani media to challenge India’s narrative or justify their own stance, often running these claims as headlines or in televised debates
Is it Right Wing Bias or just being Careless
Many people agree that Rahul Gandhi should be more careful with what he says, especially now that he is the official Leader of the Opposition. He can still criticize the government, but he needs to be constructive with more thoughtful language and ideas—so that his words help Indian democracy, not Pakistan’s propaganda efforts.
Pakistan uses Rahul Gandhi’s statements because they help Pakistan look better and India look worse. Some people think Rahul Gandhi is not being careful enough. Others say he is doing his job. He needs to be more careful with his words, otherwise right wing media will continue to have a field day.
But most believe he should speak more wisely, so his words are not used against the country he wants to serve.
