Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar   (Samajweekly)    (jatinder pal singh kaler ) District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh on Wednesday announced that the door-to-door survey under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme will commence across the district on June 25, 2026. Addressing a press conference at the District Administrative Complex, Mr. Aulakh said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would visit every household in their respective jurisdictions three times during the month-long exercise (June 25 to July 24) to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the revision process. He said that during the first visit, BLOs would distribute enumeration forms among voters and inform them about the date of their next visit for collection of the duly filled forms. In case residents are unavailable during the first visit, the BLOs will place the enumeration forms at their doors and collect them during subsequent visits.
The DC urged residents not to panic over the procedure, stating that every eligible voter would be covered through the survey. To ensure transparency and fairness, as many as 2438 representatives of different political parties have also been attached with BLOs as Booth Level Agents (BLAs), he added. The DC further said that the motto of this massive exercise is that not even a single one eligible voter in the district should be left out of SIR.
Mr. Aulakh said eligible citizens can submit Form 6 along with the enumeration form for inclusion of new names in the electoral roll, while Form 8 can be submitted for corrections in existing entries. Sharing the SIR schedule, he said after the survey the draft electoral roll would be published on August 3, 2026. Claims and objections can be filed from August 3 to September 2, following which the final electoral roll will be published on October 1, 2026. The DC appealed to voters to participate actively in the exercise, noting over 90 per cent of voters in the district have already been mapped during the pre-mapping exercise. He also mentioned that NRIs living abroad having Indian Passport can also participate in SIR through online or via their family members living here. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanjeev Sharma, SDM SBS Nagar Amanjyot Kaur, SDM Balachaur Sunil Phogat and SDM Banga Vipan Bhandari were also present.
