(Samaj Weekly)- The Valmikian Community has now reached the point where they must come forward and put their own views on Bhagwan Valmiki Ji, his Ramayanas and the reasons they feel are behind their sufferings endured via caste system. It must be remembered that it was the Valmikians who were made to carry spit pots around their necks and drag branches to erase their foot prints.
The research done by late Pandit Bakshi Ram has proved that the Valmikians are natives of India and not the Hindus as being claimed by the upcoming Hindutva movement. It must be remembered that Pandit Bakshi Ram was quite close to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar and was highly respected for his research that has brought pride and dignity for the Valmikians.
He was included in Mrs Indra Gandhi’s 25th Republic Day Celebration and had also received Baba Sahib Dr B. R. Ambedkar National award for the year 1992-1993 in recognition of literary, social and cultural services rendered by him through his prolific works providing flambeau guidance to the down trodden people of India. Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Academy presented the award.
The Brahmin Organisations are claiming that the Sanatan Dharma is the oldest in India and are overriding the word Adhi which infect means the oldest. The Adhivasi people and their beliefs do deserve the credit of being the oldest in India.
Bhagwan Valmiki Ji was an Adhi-Vasi and to hide his origin, Tulsi Ramayana was introduced. In Tulsi Ramayana degrading remarks against Bhagwan Valmiki Ji were included. Pandit Bakshi Ram’s research has uncovered the buried truth. Even Guru Ravi Dass Ji has graced Bhagwan Valmiki Ji as an Adhivasi in his Baani.
India’s history has two sides. On one side are the oppressors (Aryans) and on the other side are the victims (Adhivasi). Guru Ravi Dass Ji in his arguments with the Pandits had graced Bhagwan Valmiki Ji so this justifies that in his eyes Bhagwan Valmiki Ji was a native and not a Hindu Brahmin. Some to establish their own agendas are trying to put across Bhagwan Valmiki as a Brahmin.
A film on social media is being shown that how Guru Ravi Dass Ji from a Brahmin has become an ashoot. The story is that in his previous life he had three disciples and one day he fed them chapattis that gave them severe stomach ache. They claimed that the flour had come from an ashoot’s house. In anger they cursed him to be reborn in an ashoot family.
This claim is groundless so is another which states that Bhagwan Valmiki Ji was a dacoit and upon recital of MRA-MRA mantra which turned to RAM-RAM had made him a Maharishi. Such stories have been fabricated to hide superiority of the Adhivasi population. The Ramayana is giving of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji but to degrade him he was purposely put across as a dacoit but the truth is quite different.
In the Ramayana episodes a statement is present that Bhagwan Valmiki Ji was the tenth son of Raja Parchetta so this claim that Bhagwan Valmiki was a dacoit is totally false. He was neither a Brahmin nor a dacoit. He was a native prince by birth.
In 1920, Sir Mortimer Wheeler uncovered the buried city of Mohenjo-Daro. Pandit Bakshi Ram Ji through his research stood in support of this discovery. It was a valuable find and attracted worldwide attention. Infect, this discovery has disproved the Aryan claim that on their arrival in Sapt Sindu Ghatti (west India) they found the Adhivasi as savage and illiterate people.
The Adhivasi living in the forests, from time to time are holding protests against the Government in Jantar Mantar because the box allocated on the forms for the Adhivasi has been removed. The British had always honoured the Adhivasi as inhabitants of India and included a box for them on the forms. Since Independence this practice was ongoing.
But now this Government has withdrawn it and the Adhivasi residing in the forests are extremely upset about it. The Adhivasi population is not only now living in the forests of India but is scattered all over the world. Unfortunately, the leaders through lack of knowledge have failed in amalgamating of the dispersed Adhivasi population.
India has gone through different phases but the caste system has remained and flourished. It has not only separated the low and the high castes but has also spread hatred within the Adhivasi population. The Castes were categorised as per work and have developed into caste prestige. Preserving of prestige has led to internal hatred and has stopped Adhivasi unification.
The Aryans so far have been successful because the natives due to caste difference are failing to unite. It is benefitting the15% because the 85% is shunning each other.
The Valmikians in the past to escape caste system have joined Christian, Muslim, Sikh and Buddhist religions. In Muslim religion they became Masali and Majabi in Sikh religion.
The Valmikians are known for their bravery. Bhai Jeta Ji’s name ranks high in Sikh religion and Iklavya Ji in Hindu belief. Nodeep Kaur and Jaggi (a Nihal Singh) are both from Majabi Sikh families. During Kisaan protests in Delhi their courage and bravery has received worldwide praise.
A lot of Majabi Sikh are in the Police and are also serving on the borders of India. To face Hindutva the caste barriers will have to be eliminated. The Sikh brotherhood will have to give serious thought to this; only then equality can prevail in Punjab.
The Valmikians have been down looked upon by all for many centuries. The Brahmin Organisations have done everything in their power to demoralise the Valmikians. It was the Brahmins who have made others to wear spit pots around their necks and drag branches to erase their foot prints. How evil it was is unimaginable?
The present Government is firmly standing in protection of the selected corporations. The situation in India is going from bad to worse. All the opposition parties will have to unite to stop Hindutva taking over.
Bharat is a secular country and in it everyone has equal right to live. Religion and belief is one’s own choice. It cannot be forcibly imposed.
Finally, the Democracy must be preserved, failing the future of India looks very bleak. All the other Democratic countries are very closely observing India. India’s reputation is on stake.
