At Bilton School in Rugby, a 12-year-old girl named Courtney Wright was punished during Cultural Diversity Day. Wearing a Union Jack dress and wanting to talk about British culture. The school separated her from other students as if she had done something wrong.
This was stupid. This was unfair. And the people who made this decision should be disciplined. This decision exposes the stupidity of the woke ideology.
The Simple Truth
Courtney said something very important: “Being British is still a culture and it matters too. It’s part of who I am.”
She was right. British culture is a culture. It deserves respect just like every other culture. When schools celebrate “diversity” but exclude British culture, they are being hypocrites.
Why This Matters for Everyone
British students should never feel ashamed of the heritage. British culture gave the world many good things ie democracy, the rule of law, Shakespeare, the Beatles, human rights, and much more.
Foreign students who come to Britain, you should learn about and respect British culture. This doesn’t mean you must give up your own culture – it means you should understand and appreciate the country that welcomed you.
Real diversity means including everyone, not excluding some people. A diversity day that punishes British culture is not diverse at all.
British Values Are Important
Britain has values that make it a good place to live. British values are based on
fair play, freedom of speech, democracy, rule of law and tolerance.
These values attracted people from all over the world to come and live here. They are worth celebrating and protecting.
The School’s Stupid Mistake
The teachers and administrators at Bilton School made several big mistakes:
1. They treated British culture as bad while treating other cultures as good
2. They punished a child for being proud of her heritage
3. They showed they don’t understand what diversity really means
4. They only said sorry when people got angry at them
This shows they knew they were wrong but did it anyway. That makes it worse, not better.
What Should Happen Now
The people who made this decision must face consequences. A disciplinary action is required. Furthermore, school policies need to change that includes British culture. A letter of apology should be sent to pupils home.
The Real Problem
Some teachers and school officials have been taught wrong ideas about cultural diversity. For some reason they seem to think only minority cultures deserve celebration. They seem to think diversity means excluding the majority.
These ideas are wrong and harmful. They divide people instead of bringing them together.
Conclusion
Courtney Wright did nothing wrong. She was proud of being British, and she should be.
The school administrators who punished her are the problem. They showed prejudice against British culture, and they must be held accountable.
The people who made this shameful decision must be named and shamed. The policies must be changed. And this must never happen again.
