In May 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor in response to a terrorist attack that killed 26 innocent tourists in Pahalgam. This operation exposed Pakistan’s long history of lying about military losses and hiding the truth from both its own people and the international community. The way Pakistan handled the reporting of casualties during this conflict shows a clear pattern of deception and duplicity.

Pakistan’s Initial False Claims

When India first launched precision strikes against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, the Pakistani government immediately began lying about the damage and casualties. Pakistan’s military and government officials claimed that only 8-26 people were killed and 35-46 injured in India’s strikes. They presented these numbers to make it seem like India’s operation had failed and caused minimal damage.

These false numbers were spread through official Pakistani media and government statements. Pakistan wanted the world to believe that their military was strong and that India’s strikes had been unsuccessful. This was the first lie in what would become a series of deceptions.

The Accidental Truth – The Samaa TV Report

The truth about Pakistan’s massive losses came out by accident. Samaa TV, a Pakistani news channel, published a report that revealed the real scale of casualties. This report showed that Pakistan had lost over 150 soldiers during Operation Sindoor. The report listed gallantry awards being given to Pakistani military personnel, and at least 155 names carried the word “shaheed,” which means they had been killed in action.

However, as soon as Pakistani authorities realized what had been published, they quickly ordered the report to be deleted. This hurried removal of the report showed how embarrassed Pakistan was about the real casualties. The fact that they tried to hide this information proves they had been lying about the losses from the beginning.

Why Pakistan Lied About Military Casualties

Pakistan lied about military casualties for several important reasons:

1. National Pride
Pakistan could not admit that India had successfully killed so many of their soldiers because it would make their military look weak and ineffective.
2.Political Survival
The Pakistani government needed to show its people that it was strong and could protect the country. Admitting massive losses would have made the government look incompetent.
3.International Image
Pakistan wanted to maintain its image as a capable military power. Large casualty numbers would have damaged this reputation on the world stage.

The Hidden Terrorist Casualties

While Pakistan eventually had to acknowledge some military deaths through the awards ceremony, they completely hid the number of terrorists killed. This represents an even bigger deception because:

1.Denial of Terrorism Support
Pakistan has always claimed it does not support terrorist groups. If they admitted to terrorist casualties, it would prove they were harboring these groups on their territory.
2. Legal Consequences
Acknowledging terrorist deaths would confirm Pakistan’s involvement in supporting terrorism, which could lead to international legal action and sanctions.
3. Maintaining False Image
Pakistan wants the world to believe it is fighting terrorism, not supporting it. Admitting terrorist casualties would destroy this false narrative.

The Pattern of Pakistani Deception

The lies during Operation Sindoor are not new. Pakistan has a long history of hiding military losses and deceiving both its own people and the international community:

1. Consistent Underreporting
Pakistan always reports much lower casualty figures than the actual numbers
2. Quick Cover-ups
When the truth accidentally comes out, Pakistan quickly tries to hide or delete the information
3. False Narratives
Pakistan creates stories that make them look victorious even when they have suffered major defeats
4. Media Control
Pakistan controls its media to ensure only favorable stories are published

The Impact of These Lies

Pakistan’s lies during Operation Sindoor had serious consequences:

1.Loss of Credibility
Other countries now find it harder to trust anything Pakistan says about military matters or terrorism.
2. Internal Confusion
Pakistani citizens cannot trust their own government’s information, creating confusion and mistrust within the country.
3. International Isolation
Pakistan’s pattern of lying has made other nations less willing to work with them or take their statements seriously.
4.Continued Terrorism
By hiding terrorist casualties and denying support for terrorist groups, Pakistan can continue these dangerous activities.

Conclusion

The events of Operation Sindoor clearly demonstrate Pakistan’s willingness to lie and deceive when it comes to military casualties and terrorism support. From the initial false claims of minimal losses to the quick deletion of reports showing real casualty figures, Pakistan showed a complete disregard for truth.

The fact that Pakistan admitted to losing 155 soldiers only through an accidental publication and awards ceremony proves they had no intention of being honest about their losses. Even more concerning is their complete silence about terrorist casualties, which suggests these numbers are much higher and more embarrassing than the military losses.

Until Pakistan stops this duplicity and starts telling the truth about its military losses and terrorism support, it will continue to be seen as an untrustworthy partner in international affairs.
