SAMAJ WEEKLY UK
Indian Workers Association (Great Britain)
Date: August 16, 2025
The Indian Workers Association (Great Britain) expresses its strongest condemnation of the shocking and undemocratic remarks made by Manish Sisodia, national leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), during his recent speech in Punjab. His open declaration that elections in 2027 will be won through “Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed, Sach, Jhoot, Sawal, Jawaab, Ladai, Jhagda” — meaning persuasion, bribery, punishment, division, lies, conflict, and any other means necessary — is a direct assault on the principles of democracy and the dignity of the people of Punjab.
Sital Singh Gill, General Secretary of the Indian Workers Association, said:
“AAP came to power by declaring itself a party of honesty, transparency, and good governance. Many Punjabis, including a large section of the NRI community worldwide, supported AAP with the hope that it would deliver clean politics. These remarks from one of its top leaders expose the hypocrisy of the party and betray the trust of Punjabis.”
Mr. Gill further added:
“We note that leaders of other political parties, including the BJP, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), and others, have already sought action from the Election Commission of India, rightly pointing out that such remarks are a direct threat to free and fair elections and cannot be ignored in a democratic society. The Indian Workers Association stands firmly with all democratic forces demanding accountability and justice.”
Our Position:
1. We are strongly against this call. No political leader has the right to tell people that elections should be fought and won by bribery, threats, or blackmail. Such thinking is dangerous and dictatorial.
2. We warn all political parties. Whether AAP, BJP, Congress, Akali Dal, or any other party — if any leader acts against the interests of Punjab and its people, they will not get the support of NRIs. We have always stood for democracy, justice, and the rights of ordinary Punjabis.
3. We appeal to the people of Punjab and India. Do not clap for such cowardly statements. Do not support leaders who openly insult your dignity and threaten democracy. Be vigilant, ask questions, and hold all leaders accountable.
4. We call on the Election Commission. Immediate action must be taken against Mr. Sisodia. The integrity of elections in Punjab and India must be safeguarded, and such reckless statements should not go unpunished.
Punjabis have always been known for their courage, honesty, and resistance to injustice. We must not allow any party or leader to drag us into a culture of fear, manipulation, and corruption.
The Indian Workers Association (G.B) stands united with the people of Punjab and India in defending democracy, and we will continue to raise our voice against all forms of injustice, no matter which party or leader is responsible.
