Bhopal, (Samajweekly) With 43 persons testing positive on Monday, the number of coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh climbed to 615 as the death toll touched 50, health officials said.
The death toll touched 50 with six more deaths reported in the past 24 hours. Indore confirmed three deaths while Bhopal and Khargone one each. The virus was confirmed in all the six patients after their death.
The state’s principal secretary health and family welfare, Mohammad Suleiman said more than 10,000 samples have been tested so far in the state. 80 per cent of persons affected by the virus come from Indore and Bhopal.
“So far we have reached the capacity of up to 1,050 tests per day and plan to raise it to 7,000 per day. We propose to rope in private medical colleges and other facilities in the state. Besides we have also sent 1,400 samples for testing to Delhi with a state plane to clear the backlog,” Suleiman said.
Indore continued to lead with 328 cases as 22 were reported in the last 24 hours, health officials said. Three more cases were reported in Bhopal taking the tally in the state capital to 142. Morena recorded 14 cases, Jabalpur 10 , Ujjain 24, Hoshangabad 15, Khargone 17, Barwani 14, Raisen 4, Gwalior six, Khandwa five, Dewas four, Sheopur 3 AVidisha 13, Chhindwara 4, Satna, Dhar and Shivpuri two each and Betul, Shajapur, Sagar, Mandsaur and Ratlam one each so far.
Indore has accounted for 35 of the 50 deaths. Six persons have died in Ujjain, four in Bhopal, three in Khargone, one each in Chhindwara and Dewas. The virus has now spread to 23 out of 52 districts of the state.
So far 51 patients have recovered completely, officials said.
