Mistry appointed chairman of Civic and Social Outreach Congress

New Delhi,   In a bid to reach out to the civil society groups and social organisations, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday set up Civic and Social Outreach Congress department and appointed Madhusudan Mistry as its chairman

Gandhi has set up this department to reach out to all civil society groups, social organisations, consumer and civic organisations, women’s groups at the national level.

“The function of this department will be to coordinate with these groups and raise their issues. Its scope is very wide. Our job will be to ensure that their views and opinions are merged in the political system,” Mistry told IANS.

The party also appointed Bhupen Borah as All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary for Mizoram.

“Borah, Secretary AICC for Tripura, will also be Secretary AICC for Mizoram till the completion of Mizoram state elections,” said an AICC statement released by party General Secretary Ashok Gehlot.
