LATE QUEEN ELIZABETH’S DEMISE

(Samaj Weekly)- Her Majesty’s demise is a great loss that cannot be weighed.  The ways of God are strange but we must bow to his will.  The time for her Majesty’s soul to return to the Almighty had come.  This happens to all regardless of their might or popularity.

She has shown goodness to all regardless of their culture or belief.  Her kindness has surely earned her soul a place in Heaven.  Prayer meetings for her, throughout the world have been held.  She will be missed by all.

During her long reign, Her Majesty had visited most of the countries abroad and how she adjusted herself to their customs is indeed extraordinary.  Her shown interest and appreciation of other traditions has earned her worldwide fame.

Through her good deeds, Her Majesty has become the most honoured and respected lady of this time.  She has earned place in billions of hearts and shall remain there for evermore.

She enjoyed learning about the customs and cultures of the Commonwealth countries and this has helped to keep Commonwealth together.  Millions in the United Kingdom are hoping that the future King will also do his best to keep Commonwealth alive.

Prayers for the ALMIGHTY to rest Queen’s soul in peace are being said.  Queen Elizabeth II will always be remembered and honoured as the longest serving monarch.

Some information prior to Princess Elizabeth becoming Queen:-

  1. Queen Elizabeth came to the British throne on Feb 6, 1952 and was crowned on June 2, 1953.
  2. At the age of 14, in October 1940, she made her first radio broadcast to the children in Commonwealth Countries.
  3. In April 1942, at the age of 16, she carried out her first public engagement.
  4. In 1945, she joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service which was the woman’s branch of the British Army.
  5. On November 20, 1947, she married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
  6. In 1947, Princess Elizabeth visited South Africa with her parents.
  7. With her husband Princess Elizabeth has visited France in 1948, Malta in 1949, Greece in 1950 and Italy in early 1951.
  8. In late 1951 they both toured Canada and visited Washington DC.
  9. In 1952, her visit in Kenya was cut short by the sudden death of her father King George VI.

My remembrance of Princess Elizabeth’s visit in Kenya:-

I was born in Nairobi and was 6 years old when Princess Elizabeth visited Kenya.  For her visit to Nairobi, all the schools issued a small union jack flag to wave when she passed by and a medal bearing King George VI’s head to wear on the day.  The medal has been lost during our move from Kenya to England in year 1966.

A highway was specially built to mark her visit and was named Princess Elizabeth Way which after the independence has been named as Uhuru Highway.

Queen Elizabeth’s reign is remembered as one of the most dynamic in England but Queen Elizabeth II will be remembered for her worldwide involvement and for her longest reign plus for her fairness.
