The Indian Workers Association (Great Britain) has congratulated the England football team on its impressive 3–2 victory over Mexico, securing a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a statement, the Association praised the team’s determination, resilience and fighting spirit, describing the victory as a proud moment for the country. It said England’s performances throughout the tournament have inspired millions of supporters and demonstrated the importance of teamwork, discipline and unity.
Sital Singh Gill, General Secretary of the Indian Workers Association (Great Britain), said the England squad reflects the strength and diversity of modern Britain.
He said: “England’s success is a source of pride for the whole nation. The players have shown courage, commitment and determination under pressure, proving that success comes through unity, hard work and mutual respect.”
Mr Gill added that the national team represents people from many different backgrounds who proudly wear the Three Lions because Britain is their home. He said their achievements demonstrate how talent and dedication, rather than race, religion or family background, are the true foundations of success.
The Association said immigrant communities have made an enormous contribution to Britain’s economic, social and cultural development for generations and continue to play an important role in every aspect of national life.
IWA (GB) wished England every success in the quarter-final against Norway and expressed hope that the team’s World Cup journey would continue to inspire people across the country, bringing communities together through a shared sense of pride, unity and respect.
