Dear Voters in Chennur,
This is a request you to vote and support Ms Sujatha Surepally in the coming elections. People like her would make the political discourse in the state people oriented. She has been speaking and fighting for the people’s right for over a decade and is a perfect candidate to represent them in the Assembly. I have worked and seen her closely over the last one decade and I can say with firm conviction that she will be a much better candidate than any other. The reason, she is incorruptible and well aware of the issues of the people of the region as she has been persistently raising their issues even at the risk of her life. Last year during this period, the Sanghi trolls launched a hate campaign against her and she fought with them with great courage. She had the option to live a satisfied middle class life and yet she chose the path of movements and people’s service. It is difficult one because ways for women in politics is still difficult unless you are a puppet and for the Dalit women become double difficult because of patriarchy that exists like any other group.
People deserve the leaders they vote. Over the years, we have seen people surrendering their sovereignty to politicians who do nothing except add to their fleet of cars and pushing their families. The distance between politicians and people have increased. A ‘big’ politicians is that one who has several gunners ‘protecting’ him.
It is time for the people to change that pattern. Vote out those who bribe you. Remember if you are sold for merely pouch of liquor or a saree than nobody can save you. An election is the time to evaluate the performance of the political class you elected and you have a right to reject them.
Remember this is also the time to defeat the forces who have sold your forests, rivers and land to crony capitalists too. It is the same people who are keen to build up temples and keep quiet when farmers have committed suicides, youths are jobless and campuses in the universities burning.
We know it is difficult to change politics but let some people try and do it. We should not complain of corrupt and casteist politicians If we do not allow those who have access to people, those who live for them day and night, those who have dedicated their lives despite facing all threats. She has raised the issues of displacement in district Adilabad, all those Dalits, Adivasis and Bahujan communities who faced eviction because of dams and mining in the region. Fact of the matter is that most of the politicians have close link with the mining mafias and have rarely raised the issue concerning the people.
I support Ms Sujatha Surepally and wish her success. She is capable of raising the issues of people and will be accessible to them all the time. I sincerely hope that the people of Chennur vote for her and send her as their representative to Telangana Vidhan Sabha. If she wins there, we are sure, it will be the entry point for the Bahujan Samaj Party to make powerful presence in Telangana and bring all the other marginalised communities together to ultimately dislodge the brahmanical hegemony in the region. We support growth of BSP and Bahujan movement all over the country but at the same point of time, we should also be very of the regional dictators which have cropped up in the name of regional identities. Moreover, any one trying to ally with the communal begot of any variety at the moment in any sense must be defeated at all cost. Sujatha Surepally can build up those bridges which our politicians so far have failed particularly among the Dalit Bahujan Adivasi communities to bring them together.
