A first person narrative on the condition of Safai Karmcharis or formerly manual scavenging communities in West Bengal by Shri Kishan Balmiki who worked as a sanitation worker in Howarah, West Bengal for long. Now he is retired but like many others, he too does not get any pension.
It is sad that the condition of the community remain absolutely disturbing and very unfortunately no political party including the left or extreme left did nothing for them and the community was left to fetch itself. His experiences and understanding also give you an indication that he also learn clarity in political thoughts in Bengal.

किशन बाल्मिकी जी का जन्म हरयाणा मे हुआ लेकिन उन्होने अपने जीवन के बडे हिस्से मे बंगाल मे गुजारा क्योंकि वह हावडा नगर निगम मे सफाई मज़दूर थे. उनसे सुनिये बंगाल मे सफाई मज़दूरो की स्थिति कैसी है खासकर ये इसलिये भी जरुरी है क्योंकि सफाई पेशे मे जुडे अधिकांश लोग उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार, हरयाना और अन्य प्रांतो से आते है और उनके अधिकारो के लिये कोई भी दल साथ खडे होने को तैय्यर नही होता. आज भी निगम के अधिकांश सेवा निवृत्त लोगो को कोई पेंशान या अन्य सुविद्याये नही मिल रही है और आज वे 40-50 वर्षो की सेवा करने के बाद भी अवांछित है. सुनिये इस विषेस चर्चा को. आपकी प्रतिक्रियाओ का इंतेज़ार रहेगा.
