(Bathinda-Harpreet Singh Brar) In a moment of pride and recognition, Baba Farid College celebrates the achievement of Dr. Manpreet Singh, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, for securing the prestigious DST SERB SURE project grant. The project, titled “Development of Propargylamine-derived Anti-Alzheimer Agents through A3-coupling,” has been awarded a generous grant amount of Rs 29.8 lakh (INR).Dr. Manpreet Singh, serving as the Principal Investigator (PI), has been dedicatedly working towards advancing research in the field of Alzheimer’s disease. The project aims to develop innovative anti-Alzheimer agents using propargylamine-derived compounds through A3-coupling, a cutting-edge chemical synthesis technique. The research holds great potential for enhancing the understanding and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, which affects millions of people worldwide. This significant accomplishment has been made possible through a collaborative effort between Dr. Manpreet Singh and Dr. Virender Singh, an Associate Professor at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. Dr. Singh will be joining Dr. Manpreet Singh as the Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) in executing the research project. The DST SERB SURE project grant, under the supervision of Dr. Manpreet Singh, aims to facilitate the investigation of potential therapeutic agents for Alzheimer’s disease. The research will delve into the synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of propargylamine-derived compounds to determine their effectiveness in targeting Alzheimer-related molecular pathways. By developing these anti-Alzheimer agents, the researchers hope to contribute to the field of neurodegenerative diseases and provide new avenues for therapeutic interventions. The recognition and financial support from the DST SERB SURE project grant reinforce Baba Farid College’s commitment to promoting high-quality research and innovation among its faculty members. The institution extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Manpreet Singh and Dr. Virender Singh on their remarkable achievement.Dr. Manpreet Singh expressed his gratitude to the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) for their valuable support. He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of his team and the infrastructure provided by Honourable Chairman Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Baba Farid Group of Institutions, which played a vital role in securing the grant. Dr. Zaved Ahmed Khan, Dean Baba Farid College, further emphasised the significance of this research project in addressing the growing challenge of Alzheimer’s disease and the positive impact it could have on society.
