Cong to hold march in Patna in farmers’ support on Jan 15

New Delhi: Farmers protest against the Centre's three new contentious farm laws; at the Tikri Border.

Patna, (Samajweekly) The Bihar unit of the Congress on Tuesday decided to hold a march to the Raj Bhavan in Patna on January 15 to showcase the party’s support for the agitating farmers.

Senior Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das, who is the new in-charge of Congress affairs in Bihar, told IANS: “For the last two days, we had back-to-back meetings on farmers’ agitation at Patna’s Sadakat Ashram. We have unanimously decided to organise the protest march to the Raj Bhavan here to show solidarity with our brave farmers.”

“The farmers of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states are sitting on the Delhi borders for the last 48 days. We want the same in Bihar to fight for the rights of farmers,” Das added.

On Tuesday, Das faced an awkward situation as party leaders and their supporters manhandled each other and created a ruckus at a farmers’ meeting at Sadakat Ashram.
