British Embassy in Lima with the support of the Lima Stock Exchange organises II Conference on Green Finance in the Pacific Alliance
The British Embassy in Lima, with the support of the Lima Stock Exchange, organised the II Conference on Green Finance in the Pacific Alliance in order to contribute to the development of the green and climate finance market in Pacific Alliance member countries. This event, held on 14 and 15 March, brought together representatives of various businesses, major financial and private sector organisations in the region, as well as government officials and international experts on sustainability and green finance.
The objective of this event was to exchange experiences, challenges, and best practices that Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru are facing in their transition to a green economy. The First Conference on Green Finance in the Pacific Alliance was organised in Mexico in June 2018 by the British Embassies in Bogota and Mexico City.
The event in Lima sought to foster dialogue and consensus building on green finance in the Pacific Alliance in order to boost the flow of private investment towards a portfolio of sustainable and environmentally friendly projects. The United Kingdom is considered a leading example globally of how to successfully transition to a low-carbon green economy. Different experts in this area shared best practices and their experience over the last few years with the aim of deepening collaboration within the Pacific Alliance to achieve levels of development aligned with international climate change mitigation commitments.
Present at the conference were Kate Harrisson, British Ambassador to Peru,; Francis Stenning CEO of the Lima Stock Exchange; Lucia Ruiz, Peruvian Minister of Environment; Thatyanne Gasparotto, Head of Latin America Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), and Ravi Vig, Head of Cambridge Alternative Finance Collaboration Network (CACFN) among other speakers.
