Jalandhar ( Samajweekly ): Finance Secretary of Ambedkar Bhawan Trust (Regd.) Baldev Raj Bharadwaj issued a press statement saying that Ambedkar Bhawan Trust (Regd.) decided to honor its senior ex-trustee Mr. K.C. Sulekh and Chaudhry Naseeb Chand ji in a function organized at Ambedkar Bhawan on December 6, 2024, on the death anniversary of Babasaheb Dr, B,R. Ambedkar. Shri K.C. Sulekh lives in Chandigarh and Chaudhary Nasib Chand lives in New Delhi. Due to age, both the trustees could not come to Jalandhar to receive their honor. Ambedkar Bhawan Trust Trustee Dr. G.C. Kaul, Baldev Raj Bharadwaj, Charan Das Sandhu, Harmesh Jassal and Mahendra Sandhu went to Chandigarh from Jalandhar on 22nd December, 2024 and honored Mr. K. C. Sulekh at his residence. Bhardwaj said that it is a matter of pride for the trust that Dr. Ronki Ram, Chairperson, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chair, Punjab University, Chandigarh joined the Trustees to honor Mr. K.C. Sulekh. Apart from them, caretaker of Ambedkar Bhawan Shri Nirmal Singh Binji and Sulekh Sahib’s family members were also present. Bhardwaj said that on October 27, 1951, Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar came to Jalandhar and addressed lakhs of people. On this occasion the stage was compered by Shri K.C. Sulekh. At the place where Babasaheb addressed the people in Buta Mandi area, the eminent Ambedkarite, thinker, fearless speaker and editor of Bheem Patrika Shri Lahori Ram Balley with the help of his colleague Karam Chand Bath purchased that land in 1963. and then set up a trust named ‘Ambedkar Bhawan Trust’ in 1972 to take care of it. Mr. K. C. Sulekh got a government job in the Excise and Taxation Department in 1952. After his retirement in 1985, Sulekh was appointed as a trustee of this ‘Ambedkar Bhawan Trust’ by Shri L.R. Balley and remained a trustee of this trust till 2023. Bhardwaj further said that the honor of Chaudhry Nasib Chand ji will also be given at the appropriate time.
