AAP to launch outreach programme in Goa: Atishi

AAP leader Atishi Marlena.

Panaji,  Pushed into political oblivion after its rout in the 2017 state Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa on Saturday announced the launch of ‘Mission Nirmaan’, a grassroots exercise spanning across 1,640 polling booths in the coastal state.

The mission is being anchored by AAP’s Delhi MLA Atishi Marlena, who has been appointed in-charge of Goa, and is aimed at revitalising the virtually non-existent organisational structure of the party in Goa.

“‘Mission Nirmaan’ is a state-level exercise to establish a grassroots’ organisational structure of the party across Goa, which will begin immediately after the Zilla Panchayat elections,” Marlena said during a press conference on Saturday.

A 25-member team has been appointed to take charge of the mission, as part of which a massive outreach programme will be undertaken from April 15 to May 15 throughout the 1,640 polling booths in Goa.

“At the end of the exercise, two volunteers from each booth will participate in a polling booth workers’ convention which will decide the future course of action of the party,” Atishi also said.

AAP failed to win a single seat out of the 40 up for grabs in the 2017 state Assembly elections, with only one candidate managing to save her deposit in the polls.
