A 30-year journey of South Asian Arts in Birmingham  

A new exhibition by International Rangoli Artist, Ranbir Kaur has been launched at the Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery in Birmingham, West Midlands.
 
Celebrating 30 years in the UK and contributions to the visual arts sector, the exhibition – A Journey through Colours’ by Ranbir Kaur is on display until 20 June 2019, showcasing her artistic and creative works, to date.
 
The highly elaborate display demonstrates the artist’s unswerving passion for representing the South Asia diaspora across the UK  whilst encouraging and stimulating diverse communities’ participation and involvement in cultural learning such as creative workshops, at the infamous art gallery.
 Speaking about the exhibition launch, Ms Kaur said: It’s truly an honour to be given the opportunity to display all of my handicrafts at one of the first museums I exhibited at in the early 1990s. The exhibition is symbolic of my journey since arriving in this country. Today, I’ve established myself as a contemporary visual artist across the industry, but what remains of significance, is my passion for depicting various South Asian art forms in a totally new light. I encourage arts enthusiasts alike, to attend the exhibition and hope it ignites a sense of cultural appreciation in each and every one of them.”
Ms. Kaur is famous for her creation of the the largest Rangoli for the World’s Guinness Book of Records and the designing of the first-ever floating Rangoli on water in association with British Waterways. Her authentic artwork has displayed across 12 different countries and through her cultural representation, the consummate artist has received the Cultural Ambassador of NRI’s Award from India.
 
The exhibition encompasses these monumental accolades and will surprise gallery visitors with colourful accents and picturesque visuals spanning the last 30 years. Entry to the exhibition is free of charge. The artwork will be on display from 3rd April – 20 June 2019.
