Kochi/Bengaluru, IT major Wipro Ltd on Thursday opened its centre of excellence for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in Kochi in Kerala, a company statement said.
“The centre marks Wipro’s commitment to developing innovative IIoT solutions that span across technologies for customers in the industrial manufacturing, automotive, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, consumer products and goods, and utility space,” Bengaluru-based Wipro said in a statement.
Using Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain and robotics, the centre will develop proofs of concept and market-ready IoT solutions.
The facility is Wipro’s third one dedicated to industrial IoT after one each in Mountain View in California and Bengaluru.
Winners of the company’s two-day hackathon on IIoT held on March 12-13 in Kochi would be given an opportunity to join the new IIoT research and development team, the company said.
“Wipro will extend pre-placement offers to the winning participants in the final year of their engineering degree course while those in the penultimate year of their engineering degree will receive internship opportunities,” the statement added.
