(Samajweekly) Each faith possesses a unique charm, which contributes to the overall splendour of our nation. Unfortunately, some individuals have transformed the Hindu-Muslim dynamic into a contentious issue, and many of us have unintentionally aligned ourselves with their narrative, ultimately becoming pawns in their scheme. The Hindu-Muslim issue stands as a significant vulnerability for every Indian. Let’s focus on our shared identity as Indians, rather than dividing ourselves into categories like Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, or any other label. It is clear that neither Muslims nor Hindus can singularly define or shape the essence of India. We are all united as “India,” regardless of our religious beliefs. This Independence Day, let us commit to resisting the influence of those who undermine our strength with their divisive rhetoric. We should come together to celebrate every festival and share in each other’s grief, standing strong and supporting one another.
We cannot claim true independence until our minds are liberated from those trivial fragments.
In 1947, India witnessed the departure of the British. Robert Clive and Lord Dalhousie are no longer with us. The East India Company no longer holds control over India. It’s time to shift our focus away from blaming British colonials for India’s challenges in 2021 and embrace a forward-looking perspective. No one will make progress by blaming others.
India embodies the principle of Unity in Diversity. The remarkable diversity of India is what sets it apart in a truly unique way. The rich tapestry of diversity we cherish is at risk of unravelling, and the unity of India could be fractured if majoritarian beliefs gain traction among the populace. The unity of India is jeopardized when South Indians are compelled to learn Hindi, Bengalis and Malayalis are pressured to abandon their traditional cuisine, or Northeast Indians are pressured to conform to a singular notion of Indianness.
India operates as a democratic nation. Critiquing the government does not inherently label the critic as anti-national. Modi mirrors the legacy of India’s previous prime ministers. He is not exempt from the scrutiny of the public.
Some Indian women and foreigners assert that India is unsafe, and their claims stem from the reality that certain areas do pose safety concerns. What is the rationale for recommending a visit to Pakistan? That is incorrect. Together, we can create a safe and secure India for everyone.
It’s time to shift our focus away from the perceptions others have of India and prioritize our own narrative. We place excessive importance on seeking validation from others.
The citizens choose their prime minister. Consequently, he must be accountable to the public. Who appointed him as the prime minister? The individuals. It is our privilege to inquire. The individual embodies the vision of freedom that our founding fathers bestowed upon us through the principles of democracy.
Muslims are as much a part of India as Hindus, Christians, Jains, and Sikhs are. They do not descend from the Mughals. Their forebears stood alongside the Hindus in the struggle against colonialism in India, striving for her liberation.
Disregarding the Constitution clearly marks one as anti-national.
Lynch mobs can arise from any demographic, demonstrating that anti-national sentiments are not exclusive to a particular group. Individuals who label themselves as nationalists and advocate for Indian Muslims’ independence on 14 August are considered anti-national. Individuals who “rape threaten” women criticizing the government on Twitter are likewise seen as part of the same faction.
“Altering the faces in portraits won’t rewrite history.” The architects of our nation battled for India’s freedom. Let’s dive deeper into their stories through history books and social media. They have endured significant challenges to witness India’s liberation alongside fellow freedom fighters. We must not overlook the possibility that they may be presenting false information. It’s time to honour India and acknowledge the countless individuals who dedicated their lives to securing the nation’s freedom. Bhagat Singh, along with Gandhi, Nehru, Bose, and the rest, is all part of this narrative.
Freedom embodies the ability to question, to hold diverse opinions, to express oneself, and to engage in constructive disagreements.
The British stifled it. We have achieved independence. Let’s embrace our individuality and take charge of our freedom. We must honour the sacrifices of those brave freedom fighters who laid down their lives so India could experience the vibrant hues of liberty.
The future lies in the hands of our next generation; the youth possess the power and determination to transform the nation. Our optimism soars as we reflect on the Tokyo Olympics 2021, where a formidable 228-member contingent from India showcased their talent across 18 sporting events, ultimately securing a total of 7 medals. Among these, there are two silver medals, three bronze medals, and one gold medal. Their warm blood fuels a confidence that empowers them to transform the nation’s image.
What is the reason behind the annual celebration of Independence Day? This principle serves as a powerful reminder for future generations of the sacrifices made by our martyrs in the pursuit of a better nation. In the company of countless freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for our nation, the founding father envisioned a country that would thrive in independence and joy. We must ensure that their hard work and sacrifices are not in vain. All young people should unite, for in unity, we can enhance our Constitution.
It’s time for our youth to awaken and reduce their screen time on Netflix and various social media platforms. Avoid jeopardizing your future by indulging in excessive drinking, mindless eating, pointless conversations, or squandering time on trivial discussions. Rather, dedicate their time to social initiatives and play a role in nation-building. Break the chain and become a source of inspiration and motivation for others, setting the highest standard for countries around the globe.
One day, I envision that many of these young individuals will rise to become the leaders of our wonderful nation. Some are born with leadership qualities, while others cultivate them through their passion, dedication, and commitment. I hope that all Indians have a joyous Independence Day! Maintain that smile and foster togetherness.
