Syrian President Assad begins visit to Iran

Damascus,  Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad arrived in the Iranian capital Tehran on an official visit, state news agency SANA reported.

In this rare visit, Assad met with Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, according to SANA, Xinhua news agency reported on Monday.

The report said Assad’s visit is a “working one,” adding that both sides expressed satisfaction over the level of cooperation between the countries.
