Gurugram , (Samajweekly) Starex University paid tribute to the apostle of non-violence Mahatma Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Sastri on his birthday celebrated as International Non Violence Day in offline and online mode.
Professor Amajit Singh ,Head Department of History ,Kurukshetra University ,Kurukshetra was the Chief Guest and Professor M.M. Goel, Vice Chancellor Starex University and founder Needonomics School of Thought presided over the function.
A book ‘Revisiting Mahatma Gandhi’ edited by Prof. Amajit Singh was released on the occasion by the Vice-Chancellor Starex University on the occasion.
Prof. Amarjit Singh a historian on modern India said that Mahatma Gandhi’s doctrine of Ahimsa has taught the significance of non – violence to the world and is the greatest contributions of Ahimsa was the achievement of the independence of India.
The Ahimsa of the Mahatma welded the people of India into a nation and inspired them to fight against the mighty British on the saddle of non – violence and simply eroded the Colonial British and consequently emerged the Independent India, told Prof. Amarjit Singh.
Mahatma Gandhi shaped the history and politics at the global level through his mechanism of non – violence, said Prof Amarjeet Singh.
During the post-colonial period, the socio-economic and political implications of Gandhi’s non- violence made roads to the every corner of the globe ,told Prof. Amarjit Singh.
‘Nonviolence, smallness and simplicity are three remedies for the maladies of modern society with lessons from the wise words of wisdom in Gandhian thoughts to work without worries ’ opined Vice Chancellor M.M. Goel .
Non-violence in economics ‘Needonomics’ is the panacea of all the problems including violence, corruption, terrorism, deprivation, discrimination and discontent caused by the greed and can ensure global peace , said the Needonomist Goel.
