Speeding truck rams another in West Delhi, one dead

Agra: The site where a sleeper bus rammed against a sand carrying truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, in Fatehabad area of Agra on June 28, 2019. Seven persons were killed and two dozen injured when the bus carrying fifty passengers from different parts of Bihar was heading for Rajasthan.

New Delhi, A 24 year-old man died while three others were injured after a truck rammed into another truck in West Delhi, the police said on Saturday.

According to the police, they got to know about the accident near Sagarpur bus stand through a PCR call at 2.41 a.m., following which they rushed to the spot.

“Initial investigation revealed that some persons were going for ‘DAK Kanwar’ in a truck from Bindapur. They halted to cover their truck with canvas (tirpal) as it had started raining. The truck was parked on the roadside near Sagarpur Bus Stand when another truck, carrying scrap from Gurugram and going to Khyala, Delhi rammed into it. Four people were injured and rushed to the hospital,” said a senior police officer.

Police said that the injured were identified as truck driver and resident of Janakpur Vijay Thakur (40), Delhi Cantt resident Mohit (24), Ankit (27) and Abhishek (27), both from Sagarpur.

“We have arrested the offending driver identified as Ajay Shankar (41) under relevant sections of the IPC. The injured Mohit was referred to Safdarjung Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” said the officer.
