SEVA Trust UK organised a meeting involving Minister of Coordination Manmeet Singh Narang from Indian High Commission, London. The meeting was held at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Bedford attended by community & business leaders, reps from Gurdwaras, Temples, Indian & Punjabi Women groups and reps from the leading charitable and voluntary groups.
SEVA Trust UK Chairman Cllr Charan Kanwal Singh Sekhon, Bedfordshire Asian Business Association Chairman Kuldeep Singh Rupra OBE, Dr Balbir Singh Gabri (Ramgarhia Sikh Society), Darshan Singh Garcha (President Guru Nanak Gurdwara), Jaswinder Nighah (President Siri Guru Ravidass Sabha), Prithvi Randhawa ( SGRS), Vishal Somal, Venu Somal ( Bedford Hindu Society and Maratha Group), SEVA Trust UK reps, Senior members and Trustees from many community groups attended the meeting.
Minister of Coordination Mr Narang updated the community Reps about the services offered by the High Commission and listened to their concerns and the feedback. Many members raised issues regarding the complex OCI application process, OCI renewals and lengthy & complex application processes. The group also discussed about the forthcoming 550th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Cllr Sekhon raised the issue of lack of direct flights from London to Punjab and requested the Minister to raise this issue on behalf of all Indian and Punjabi diaspora with the Govt. of India and the aviation authorities.
Mr Narang assured the representatives to look into all the issues raised and he thanked all the reps for their contributions. On behalf of Guru Nanak Gurdwara, the President Darshan Singh Garcha thanked Mr Narang, SEVA Trust UK and all the attendees.
