Mumbai, Sensex and Nifty opened on a firm note on Friday as the benchmark Sensex jumped 200 points and the Nifty traded at 10,850.
Healthy buying was seen in all the sectors with the metal index leading the pack, closely followed by banking scrips.
The Sensex of the BSE opened at 36,018.49 from its previous close at 35,867.44 on Thursday.
At 9.17 a.m., it traded at 36,067.56 higher by 200.12 points or 0.56 per cent.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened at 10,842.65 from it’s previous close of 10,792.50. It traded at 10,850.65 during the morning trade session, up 58.15 points and 0.54 per cent.
On Thursday, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought stocks worth Rs 3,210.60 crore while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold stocks to the tune of Rs 5,240.62 crore.
