(Samajweekly) Samyukta Kisan Morcha has already announced plans to stage protests during the monsoon session of Parliament starting July 22, which was reaffirmed by Punjab organisation constituents of the Morcha today. Samyukta Kisan Morcha will send a warning letter to the opposition parties by July 17 to raise their voice in Parliament for the rights of the farmers. Then, every day during the monsoon session of Parliament from July 22 till the end of the session, five members from each farmers’ organisation, totalling at least 200 farmers will protest outside Parliament.
Protests against BJP leaders continue across Punjab. Today, a rally was organised against BJP leader Harjeet Grewal at Dhanola of Barnala district. After gathering at Dhanola’s Dana Mandi, the protesters reached Dhanola Bazaar chanting slogans for repeal of the Black Farm Laws and enactment of a Law Guaranteeing MSP. Thousands of protesters held a protest march through the city.  Leaders slammed Harjeet Grewal of BJP for calling farmers goons and using swear words against them and said that public anger has the power to break the arrogance of bigots. Samyukta Kisan Morcha will give a blunt answer to every conspiracy of the Modi government against the farmers. The protest of the farmers will end only after repealing the three anti-farmer laws and enacting a new law guaranteeing MSP. The leaders said that GT Road would be blocked tomorrow for the family of 45-year-old Sohan Singh of Kaunke Kalan village who was martyred at Singhu Border and had not received government compensation cheque, despite formalities being completed.
Punjab Farmers organisations have held protest gathering at 108 places including toll plazas, Reliance pumps, corporate malls, railway parks, dry port of Adani and houses of BJP leaders. Protesters demanded that murder case be registered against the Modi Government for the farmers and labourers who have lost their lives and have been  martyred at the Delhi border. Speakers emphasised that Modi government’s announcement to limit the stock of traders was a partial victory of the farmers’ struggle because the need of having an effective essential commodities act has been admitted and the attempt of the Modi regime to dilute it has been proved wrong and anti-people.
The Punjab farmers organisations announced that convoys of farmers including women farmers were continuing to leave Punjab for Delhi. Dozens of caravans from different districts including Ludhiana, Sangrur, Mansa, Bathinda, Barnala, Ropar, Fazilka and Faridkot have left already started for Singhu and Tikri Borders.
Farmers who had been taken into custody for protesting at Sirsa, Haryana have been released due to the unrelenting protest and blockade set up by farmers. The highhandedness of the local administration has been cut to size and the police are increasingly understanding that arresting peacefully protesting farmers will not help in breaking the resolve of farmers.
