In various settlements of Delhi, On Revolutionary Woman Krantijyoti Savitribai Bai Phule’s Birth anniversary
– social awakening program organized with the communities living at the margin of society
(sewer workers, nut community, domestic workers and laborers etc.)
3 January 2021 is the 190th birth anniversary of Krantijyoti Savitri Bai Phule. India’s mother and first female teacher was born on 3 January 1831 in Pune, Maharashtra. She devoted her life to women’s education and their rights.
As India’s first female social worker, Savitri Bai worked throughout her life for women’s right. In the erstwhile society, she also did a great job of improving the social status of widows and spent her entire life in removing social evils.
On this occasion, the Dalit Adivasi Shakti Adhikar Manch (DASAM) apprised the community based at the margins of the society at various settlements in Delhi like sewer workers, nut community, domestic workers and laborers etc.
Two years ago, our fellow sewer worker Sher Singh was hit by poisonous gas while cleaning the sewer. In this accident, Sher Singh survived after a huge wart but his two companions could not survive. Today, various programs were organized with him in his colony Mudka Sukhdev Vihar.
At Brar Square (Delhi Cantt), sewer workers, domestic workers and laborers also participated in large numbers at the program organised. Similarly, at Kalyanpuri, where there is large presence of the Nut community, several programs organised on the birth anniversary of Savitri Bai Phule.
