Minimum temperatures rise across Haryana, Punjab

Chandigarh,   Minimum temperatures rose at most places across Haryana and Punjab on Wednesday.

Dense fog prevailed over several places in the two states on Wednesday.

In a pile-up of vehicles due to thick fog on the Dera Bassi flyover on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway, around 20 km from here, a woman and her daughter were killed when their car was hit from behind by a Volvo bus.

Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday against a low of 4.2 on Tuesday.

In Haryana, Ambala at 8.5 degrees, Bhiwani at 7.8 degrees, Hisar at 7.5 degrees, Karnal at 6 degrees and Narnaul at 6 degrees were warmer than the minimum temperature of 3.7, 5.6, 2.8, 3.4 and 3 degrees, respectively, on Tuesday.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of 3.6 degrees against 2.4 degrees on Tuesday.

Ludhiana and Patiala recorded lows of 7.8 degrees and 8.1 degrees against 4.4 degrees and 5 degrees, respectively, on the previous day.
