J&K LG chairs security review meeting in Srinagar

Srinagar, J&K Lieutenant Governor Girish Chander Murmu on Thursday chaired a joint security review meeting here in which he took a detailed review of the existing security arrangements in the Valley.

The meeting was attended by Advisors R.R Bhatnagar and Farooq Ahmad Khan, Chief Secretary B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, Corps Commander 15 Corps K.J.S. Dhillon, DGP Dilbag Singh, ADGP CID B. Srinivas, ADGP Security Muneer Ahmad Khan, Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan, ADGP CRPF Zulfiqar Hassan and IGP Vijay Kumar.

IGP Vijay Kumar made a detailed presentation about the security scenario in the Valley focussing on the security measures initiated for ensuring peace and stability in the region.

He briefed the chair about the various successful anti-terrorism operations carried out jointly by the police and the security forces in which several top terrorist commanders have been killed recently.

He also briefed about the various other security measures that have been taken in order to strengthen the security grid of the Valley including the strengthening of check points at the sensitive locations across the Valley.

Kumar also briefed about the various initiatives taken for enhancing the synergy and coordination among various forces operating at the ground level. He presented an overview of the steps initiated by the security forces in the Valley to counter the challenges faced at the ground level.

Earlier, DGP Dilbag Singh also briefed about the role of JK Police in maintaining stability and peace in J&K.

Lt Governor Murmu applauded the efforts of the security forces, particularly J&K Police, in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
