Jammu, (Samajweekly) The seventh phase of the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir recorded a voter percentage of 47.43 across constituencies spread over different districts of Jammu and Kashmir in the first six hours of polling till 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
The State Election Commission said the Kashmir division recorded an overall polling percentage of 32.41 and Jammu division recorded 59.90 per cent up to 1 p.m.
As per the figures given by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir division, Pulwama recorded voting percentage of 9.37, Baramulla 49.50 per cent, Kulgam 14.32 per cent, Shopian 5.20 per cent, Anantnag 18.81 per cent, Bandipora 58.78 per cent, Ganderbal 41.60 per cent, Kupwara 42.19 per cent and Budgam 39.48 per cent till 1 p.m.
Similarly, in Jammu division, Kishtwar recorded voting percentage of 61.01, Udhampur 58.69 per cent, Jammu 58.81 per cent, Kathua 59.35 per cent, Ramban 57.93 per cent, Doda 50.13 per cent, Samba 64.90 per cent, Poonch 69.92 per cent, Rajouri 61.38 per cent and Reasi 58.89 per cent till 1 p.m.
In the seventh phase of the DDC elections, voting is being held in 31 constituencies, 13 from Kashmir division and 18 from Jammu division, where 148 and 150 candidates are in fray respectively.
Moreover, 1,852 polling stations have been set up in this phase, 1,068 in Kashmir division and 784 in Jammu division for smooth conduct of the elections.
