Gaza, Israeli warplanes pounded militants’ facilities in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Saturday in response to an earlier rocket fire that damaged a house in southern Israel.
An Army spokesman said in a statement that Israeli air forces launched the strikes on militant facilities and posts in the Gaza Strip, Xinhua news agency reported.
Residents in Gaza City said they heard buzzing sounds of drones and fighting warplanes hovering over the region, adding that sounds of explosions could also be heard.
Israel Defence Forces said the strikes came “in response to 10 rockets fired from Gaza” late Friday.
The Israel army said the country’s Iron Dome anti-missile defence system intercepted eight of the rockets.
One house was hit and damaged, the army said, showing a picture of the damage on Twitter.
No one had claimed responsibility for the rocket fire by Friday evening.
