Israel reports 59 new COVID-19 cases, 17,071 in total

Jerusalem, (Samajweekly) Israel’s Ministry of Health reported 59 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total to 17,071.

According to the ministry, the number of death cases has increased from 284 to 285, while the number of recoveries reached 14,792 and the number of active cases rose to 1,994, Xinhua news agency reported.

The number of patients in serious condition dropped from 36 to 33, out of 114 patients currently hospitalized.

Also on Sunday, Israeli Health Minister Yuli Edelstein announced a significant expansion of coronavirus tests following the rise in morbidity in recent days.

Thus, all household members of the new confirmed coronavirus patients will undergo immediate COVID-19 tests even if they have no symptoms.

People without symptoms, who have been in close contact with patients diagnosed in schools, nursing homes and other institutions, will also be tested.
