SAMAJ WEEKLY UK-
London, UK – 21st July 2025- The Indian Workers Association Great Britain (IWA GB) expresses its full and unwavering support for the ongoing democratic struggle of Indian farmers, led by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), against the pro-corporate and anti-people policies of the BJP-led Modi government.
We are deeply alarmed by the Indian government’s reported plans to surrender to U.S. imperialist interests through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that would severely impact India’s agriculture, dairy, and food markets—putting the livelihoods of millions of farmers and rural workers at grave risk.
In solidarity with the farmers’ call, IWA GB endorses the nationwide action on 13th August 2025, to be observed as “Corporations Quit India Day”, with mass mobilisations, tractor/motor vehicle parades, and symbolic protests against the growing corporate control of food systems. The planned burning of effigies of U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflects the farmers’ collective anger at policies that prioritise foreign capital over indigenous agriculture.
We also support the SKM’s national campaign from 15th August to 26th November, culminating in a massive worker-farmer protest marking the fifth anniversary of the historic farmers’ movement of 2020–2021. The SKM’s campaign rightly highlights critical issues, including:
Rejection of FTAs that promote cheap imports and endanger India’s food sovereignty Legal guarantee of MSP at C2+50% and comprehensive loan waivers Resistance against indiscriminate land acquisition, electricity privatisation, smart meters, and other anti-farmer policies.
Demands for environmental protection, tribal rights, and progressive taxation on the super-rich to fund universal access to food, education, healthcare, and employment We commend the resilience of farming communities across India — from Singrauli to Vidarbha, Himachal to Mewat, and from Bihar to Karnataka — who continue to resist land grabs, ecological destruction, and economic exploitation.
The Indian Workers Association (G.B.) has long stood for workers’ and farmers’ rights, secular democracy, and anti-imperialist unity. We call upon all progressive organisations, trade unions, diaspora groups, and justice-loving individuals in the UK and worldwide to stand shoulder to shoulder with Indian farmers and rural workers in their struggle for dignity, justice, and sovereignty.

Long Live Farmer-Worker Unity!
Down with Imperialist and Corporate Loot!
