New Delhi, American soldiers danced along with their Indian counterparts while rhyming the Assam Regiment’s marching song, ‘Badluram ka badan zameen ke neeche hai’ during a joint military exercise in the US.
The soldiers can be seen enthusiastically singing and dancing in a video which was recorded during the joint exercise ‘Yudhabhyas’ at Joint Base Lewis, McChord in the US.
The Assam Regiment’s marching song has an inspiring story behind it.
When an Indian Army soldier Badluram died fighting against the Japanese forces during the World War II, an officer forgot to report his death and his share of ration kept coming. Likewise, a surplus ration was supplied to the Army unit that helped the troops survive.
Interestingly, the lyrics of the song ‘Badluram ka badan zameen ke neeche hai’ are based on the US’ marching song Battle Hymn Of The Republic — John Brown’s Body.
