Global Covid-19 caseload tops 182mn

Washington, (Samajweekly) The overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 182 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 3.94 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

In its latest update on Thursday morning, the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 182,136,238 and 3,945,551, respectively.

The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 33,664,909 and 604,71, respectively, according to the CSSE.

In terms of infections, India follows in the second place with 30,362,848 cases.

The other worst countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (18,557,141), France (5,837,261), Russia (5,449,594), Turkey (5,425,652), the UK (4,817,236), Argentina (4,470,374), Italy (4,259,909), Colombia (4,240,982), Spain (3,808,960), Germany (3,736,205) and Iran (3,204,557), the CSSE figures showed.

In terms of deaths, Brazil comes second with 518,066 fatalities.

Nations with a death toll of over 100,000 are India (398,454), Mexico (232,803), Peru (192,331), Russia (132,973), the UK (128,404), Italy (127,566), France (111,244) and Colombia (105,934).
