(Samajweekly) In honour of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji’s Gurpurb 2022 Falcons Primary School in Leicester held their special annual Gurpurb Day celebration. The day was filled with classroom activities relating to the values and teachings of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji as well as Gatka sessions, Dastaar tying, Sakhis of Guru Nanak Sahib, Share Charity and Sikh Museum Initiative.
Headteacher Jasbir Kaur Mann said “We want our pupils to have an enriching learning experience and grounding in Sikh values of respect and compassion. Gurpurb Day is a great example of this in action.”
The school hall was beautifully prepared to receive the blessed presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the day concluded with a Kirtan Divaan with contributions from Falcons Kirtan Club, Anahad Kirtan Bibian and Bhai Pritpal Singh Ji Jatha.from Leicester.
“It is wonderful to see our pupils growing in their ability and confidence especially during Kirtan” said Kartar Singh, Vice-Chair of Governors “I loved learning about Guru Nanak through reading and listening to the Sakhis because it really inspired me to treat everyone equally and to always help others.” said Falcons pupil Umang (Y4).
The school raised £264.70 for Midlands Langar Seva Society to help feed homeless people and those in need.
