BJP losing Lok Sabha elections in Faizabad-Ayodhya is not the first incident
(Samajweekly)
By doing Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been trying to create an atmosphere in Favor of so-called Hindu awakening in Awadh and Purvanchal as well as in the entire country. In such a situation, the victory of SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on the Faizabad-Ayodhya seat has become a topic of discussion. In this context, there has been a lot of discussion about social engineering. But to think that BJP losing Lok Sabha elections in Faizabad-Ayodhya is the first incident, is not true. This area has been an area of Farmers and Communist movement. In Ayodhya itself, where the temple is located, the anti-BJP-RSS stream has been strong, even in the maths and temples. Therefore, it would not be right to think that the victory of SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad is an isolated incident. Note that the roots of RSS and BJP have never been very deep here. If we look at Faizabad-Ayodhya, BJP has been defeated many times in Lok Sabha elections after 1989. In 1989, Mitrasen Yadav won here as a CPI candidate. After that, Mitrasen Yadav won as a SP candidate in 1998 and as a BSP candidate in 2004. In 2009, Nirmal Khatri won the Lok Sabha election from here as a Congress candidate. Therefore, Faizabad-Ayodhya, an area of struggle politics, should not be confined to the scope of so-called social engineering politics.
In fact, in this election, there has been an anti-BJP atmosphere from west to east and in the entire state. If the election had been fought in good coordination and understanding with all the anti-BJP-RSS forces in Banaras itself, then Prime Minister Modi would have also lost the election and a new political chapter would have begun in India. However, there is still an atmosphere of disillusionment and opposition to BJP in the state. If people’s politics is strengthened by forming a big United Front of all sections of the public on the issues on which the public has voted against the BJP, such as employment, inflation, social security, protection of the Constitution, etc., then the ideology of RSS and the damage control exercise being done by the RSS politically to create an atmosphere in favour of the BJP will also fail.
