New Delhi, The proceeds from an ongoing exhibition-cum-sale of 2,000 hand-blown glass pieces will go to animal welfare organisation People for Animals as well as artisans from Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district.
The exhibition will conclude on October 26, PFA Chairperson Maneka Gandhi, who is also the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, said here on Wednesday.
“We trained bangle- and pipette-makers, who create instruments for laboratories, to blow glass. Designer Momin Latif has designed these glasses,” Gandhi told IANS, adding that PFA has combined art and animal welfare since its inception almost three decades ago.
Firozabad is known for its glass bangles.
The proceeds will be equally divided between the artisans and PFA, Gandhi added.
Her sister and prominent animal rights activist Ambika Shukla said the money will go to the 36 hospitals PFA runs across the country.
Typified as water, wine and whiskey glasses, they are priced upwards of Rs 1,000 for each piece.
