
Jalandhar (SAMAJ WEEKLY):- Ambedkar Mission Society Punjab (Regd.) organized a tribute meeting of eminent Ambedkarist, great thinker, fearless orator, editor of Bheem Patrika Shri L. R. Balley at the historical place Ambedkar Bhawan, Dr. Ambedkar Marg, Jalandhar. Emotional tributes were paid to Shri L. R. Balley by members of Ambedkar Bhawan Trust (Regd.), All India Samata Sainik Dal (Regd.) Punjab Unit and Ambedkar Mission Society Punjab (Regd.). While paying tributes to Balley Sahib, Patron of the Society and Chairman of the Trust, Sohan Lal Former DPI (Colleges) said that Balley Sahib laid the foundation for the propagation and dissemination of Baba Sahib’s ideology in Punjab. He made an unprecedented effort to create public awareness through his inspiring writings. He said that Balley Sahib’s entire life was dedicated to the suffering and oppressed people.

In his address, the Vice President of the Society, Professor Balbir, described Balley Ji as a great thinker of Ambedkar’s ideology and highly appreciated his immense contribution to the people’s struggle and the way he created a new consciousness of enthusiasm and enthusiasm among the youth of that time through his many books.

The Patron of the Society and General Secretary of Ambedkar Bhawan Trust, Dr. G. C. Kaul, while paying tribute to Balley Sahib, said that Bali Sahib was one of the few early Ambedkarites who laid the foundation for the propagation and dissemination of Ambedkar’s ideology in Punjab. Despite the overwhelming opposition forces, not only in Punjab, but also by leading many movements, he took Baba Saheb’s mission to the masses all over India by creating immense literature. Society President Charan Das Sandhu recalled the continuous people’s struggle waged by Balley Saheb after he resigned from the government job on December 6, 1956, at the time of Baba Saheb’s Parinirvana. He said that by starting ‘Bheem Patrika’ in Hindi in 1958, Balley ji started an important effort to create awareness about Ambedkar’s ideology all over India. During the morcha started by RPI in 1964, he was arrested along with hundreds of his colleagues and spent 70 days in jail along with his entire family. He recalled the role played as the National General Secretary of the party, the continuous struggle against the atrocities on Dalits in Punjab, the struggle for the gazetted holiday of Baba Saheb’s birthday in 1982 and the efforts made for the achievement of Dalit rights by launching various fronts like the Talhan incident.
Mr. Jaswinder Wariana, Parminder Singh Khutan, Dr. Charanjit Singh. Gautam Sampla and Dr. Mahendra Sandhu also paid tribute to Mr. L.R. Balley. The General Secretary of the Society, Baldev Raj Bhardwaj, also paid tribute to Balley Saheb and while thanking everyone, he said that due to the work done by Balley Saheb for the society, the name of Balley Saheb has become eternal and as long as the sun and moon remain, the name of Balley Saheb will remain. Nirmal Singh Binji, Ashwani Kumar, Ramesh Bangar and Vicky etc. were present on this occasion.
