Misano Adriatico (Italy), Italian rider Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) on Sunday won the MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix (GP), while Marc Marquez of Spain (Respol Honda) finished second, extending his significant overall lead in the MotoGP championship standings.
Dovizioso clocked a time of 42 minutes and 5.426 seconds here at the Marco Simoncelli circuit, 2.822 seconds ahead of Marquez and 7.269 seconds ahead of Cal Crutchlow of the United Kingdom (LCR Honda Castrol) in third, reports Efe news.
With this win, Dovizioso climbed one spot in the overall standings and is now second with 154 points, three points ahead of his countryman Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha), who finished seventh at San Marino, while Marquez has 221 points.
After battling with Marquez for the second spot on the podium, Spain’s Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati), who started the race from pole position, finished 17th after crashing with only two laps to go, and is now fourth in the overall standings with 130 points.
