A major cross-county investigation is underway following the grim discovery of a man’s body inside a parked delivery van in Leicester, triggering a fast-moving homicide inquiry that stretches back to West London.

Harinder Kaur, 39, of Sutton Dene, Hounslow, appeared before Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 2, facing charges of murder and perverting the course of justice.

The Grim Discovery

The investigation began on Wednesday, May 27, when local police officers in Leicester were called to Garden Street, a central commercial area just off the city’s inner ring road. Inside the back of a parked white Ford Transit van, authorities discovered the body of a man believed to be in his 30s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
As local detectives began examining the vehicle, a crucial breakthrough altered the direction of the investigation. A registration check revealed the white Transit van was registered to an address in West London. Recognizing the cross-jurisdictional nature of the crime, the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command officially took administrative lead of the homicide probe.

Fast-Moving Inter-Force Hunt

Working in tandem, Met detectives and Leicestershire Police tracked the vehicle’s long-distance movements. Within 48 hours of the body’s discovery, tactical units executed a warrant at a residential property in Hounslow.
Kaur was arrested at her home on Friday, May 29. Following days of intensive questioning at a London police station, CPS London homicide lawyers authorized the charges of murder and perverting the course of justice.

Public Appeal for Footage

While a suspect has been charged, Scotland Yard emphasizes that the investigation is in its critical early stages. Forensics teams are continuing to examine the vehicle, and specialized officers are working to confirm the victim’s identity and locate his next of kin.
Detectives have issued an urgent public appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the van’s transit across the Midlands or London highways. Detective Chief Inspectors are particularly keen to speak with drivers or residents who may have captured doorbell or dashcam footage of the specific vehicle involved.

Police Description: The vehicle is a white Ford Transit van, bearing the registration plate BF18 VNV. Anyone who recalls seeing this vehicle traveling between London and Leicester around late May is urged to contact the incident room.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police non-emergency line on 101, quoting reference 9873/28MAY. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
