Bengaluru, (Samajweekly) Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that erstwhile ruler Nada Prabhu Kempegowda’s vision is the reason for the development of Bangalore city.
He was speaking to the media after garlanding the statue of Nada Prabhu Kempegowda as part of the 514th birth anniversary program at Vidhana Soudha premises on Tuesday.
“Kempegowda’s was one of the greatest rulers. He has laid a solid foundation for the development of Bengaluru. He had built towns based on the occupations of different people. His administration is a source of inspiration to all of us,” CM Siddaramaiah said.
He said that Kempegowda is not confined to a particular caste or community. He commanded the love and affection of all the people in the state.
“If Bengaluru has made a name at the international level it is because of Kempegowda. He built the city with foresight. He had constructed four majestic entrances to the city and developed lakes,” the Chief Minister said.
“We should form our future by knowing our history, but it should not be twisted.
The Nadaprabhu Kempegowda’s Jayanti was also celebrated at various district levels including Bengaluru.
The Chief Minister recalled that the decision to celebrate Kempegowda Jayanti, naming the Devanahalli airport after him and forming the Kempegowda Development Authority was taken earlier during the Congress government.
