Asaram’s interim bail plea rejected

Jodhpur, The Rajasthan High Court on Thursday rejected the interim bail petition of self-styled godman Asaram, who is serving life imprisonment in the Jodhpur Central Jail on rape charges.

Asaram, in his plea, had stated his wife Laxmi Devi was seriously ill and was in hospital.

During the hearing, the government advocate presented the report of Asaram’s wife. He told the court she is healthy, and there was no serious condition.

After considering the report and the arguments, the court of Justice Sandeep Mehta rejected the bail plea.

The HC Bench observed: “There is no sympathy of the court for such criminals.”

During another hearing on Monday, the court had refused to hear Asaram’s plea.
