SIKHI CAMP AT GURU NANAK GURDWARA VERY SUCCESSFUL

(Samajweekly) Sikhi Camp held at the city centre place of worship Guru Nanak Gurdwara, 9 Holy Bones, Leicester LE1 4LJ, which was visited by the late Her Majesty The Queen as part of the monarch’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2001, on Friday and Saturday 25 and 26 October from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm was very successful, well attended and whole heartedly enjoyed and was full of education.

The parents or relatives of those participating had to complete registration before anyone could take part. The Sikhi Camp took place in the Sikh Museum and Punjabi School of the Gurdwara.  Each day more than 100 girls and boys aged over 5 years took part in fun activities, sports, arts and crafts. Guru Ka Langar {vegetarianfood} was provided on both days.  Number of Sewadars [Volunteers}

were happy to give their valuable time for the Sikhi Camp. Goody bags were handed out to everyone taking part.

Jorawer aged 6 years from Kibworth attended his very first Sikhi Camp and said” It was fun and I am going to come to next one with my cousin brother Robinder” .Sukhraj and Jugraj, regular attendees of all Sikhi Camps in Leicester commented “We learnt about Baba Deep Singh Ji and Bhai Mani Singh Ji. We really liked the Camp and had so much fun.  Baba Deep Singh Ji wrote a Saroop in Arabic and sent it to Pakistan.  Bhai Mani Singh Ji wrote all 5 Saroops and sent them to all 5 takhats”.

One of the organisers Balinder Singh Ji commented “We are extremely delighted that so many of the girls and boys took part in this Sikhi Camp and would like to especially thank the President of the Gurdwara Ajmer Singh Basra and all the Management Committee, parents and relatives and each one of the volunteers”.
