Subject: Mamta Foundation of Canada to be honoured on the Dr. Ambedkar Equality Day, April 14, 2024, 3 pm, Surrey Center Library – Chetna Association of Canada

The Chetna Association of Canada congratulates everyone on the Baisakhi and the Dr. Ambedkar Equality Day (2024).

Both Baisakhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar symbolises equality.

In many parts of the world, April 14, the birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a renowned scholar and a visionary, is now being proclaimed and celebrated as the Dr. Ambedkar Equality Day.  The Province of British Columbia is expected to proclaim April 14- The Dr. Ambedkar Equality Day, similar to the previous years.

To mark this occasion, the Chetna Association of Canada has decided to honour a Surrey-based organisation, Mamta Foundation of Canada,  for making a significant difference in advancing gender equality.

Mamta Foundation of Canada, a Surrey-based organisation, was founded fourteen years ago by Makhan Tut and Gurbax Deo.

One of the goals of the Mamta Foundation of Canada is: To “Support the moral, social, cultural and economic uplift of orphaned, unwanted, abandoned and poor children around the world.”. For additional information on this organization, please visit its website at: https://mamtafoundationofcanada.org/

Many of the abandoned children, mostly girls, have been nourished and supported by Mamta Foundation of Canada to receive higher education and are now in working “well paid” jobs.

The Chetna Association of Canada acknowledges and appreciates contributions of Mamta Foundation of Canada for Gender Equality and Youth Development.  These actions of Mamta Foundation are well aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Goals (2030) and may have also contributed to the success of accomplishing the goals of the UN in India which states that:

“Over the past two decades India has witnessed a significant improvement in women and girls’ lives, including decline in fertility rates, rise in educational attainment, and increased opportunities due to high economic growth.”
