Amritsar(Samaj Weekly)- A delegation of the non-governmental organization (NGO), Amritsar Vikas Manch, a voluntary community development organization working for sustainable development in and around the city of Amritsar held a meeting with Sh. V.K. Seth, Director of Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport Amritsar.
In a press release, Manch Secretary and Convener (India) of FlyAmritsar Initiative Yogesh Kamra, shared that AVM members lead by its President Manmohan Singh Brar & Patron Kulwant Singh Ankhi discussed various matters including passengers services, the proposed expansion of terminal building, completion of additional aprons (parking stand for 14 aircraft in addition to the 10 existing ones), parallel taxi track which enables the landing plane to leave the runway in shortest time so that runway becomes free for landing another aircraft, thus saving time, beautification of approach road, parking management, usage of aerobridges, quality of food and beverages services and help desk support for passenger inquiries.
The delegation appreciated Director V.K. Seth for his great efforts to make the stay comfortable for 250 passengers from London Heathrow flight who landed at the Airport on Dec 22 by extending all possible help, including food arrangements by serving them dinner, breakfast and special arrangements were made for elderly and children. This flight departed London before the ban on UK flights was announced by Government of India due to the new strain of virus found in UK. Passengers were stuck inside Amritsar airport for long hours as the government made test and negative results mandatory for all arriving passengers, before they are allowed to leave the airport premises.
