Islamabad, The highest echelons in the Pakistan government are mulling the imposition of emergency to meet any untoward situation arising due to developments regarding the uncertainty over extension in service for Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, said sources.
The News and Jang reported on Tuesday on the basis of information from well-placed sources that no conclusive decision has been arrived at by the high-ups since most of the senior officials are not in agreement with the proposal.
However, the possibility of imposition of emergency cannot be ruled out outright.
The pro-emergency segment of the leaders was of the view that a positive outcome was attained in the past through imposition of emergency, and suggested that doing the same for a short time now would not be harmful. It will also help the government create harmony in society and avert chaos.
