BSF ASI held for stealing bag at Delhi airport

New Delhi,  The police on Wednesday arrested an assistant sub-inspector of Border Security Force (BSF) for allegedly stealing a woman’s handbag containing ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh, at IGI Airport, yesterday, the police said on Wednesday.

The accused have been identified as Naresh Kumar.

“The complainant was on her way to board a flight to Srinagar, when after completing her boarding formalities, she took a seat and kept her handbag under the chair. Soon, she realised that her bag, which contained gold and diamond, was missing after which she approached the police,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport), Sanjay Bhatia.

Following the complainant, CCTV footages were scanned and Kumar was identified and arrested from the airport. He was to board a flight to Bagdogra. The bag was recovered from his possession.

Initial investigation revealed that he wanted to make easy money. The medical examination of Kumar has confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol.
