Nawanshahr / Kathgarh (Samajweekly) (Jatinder Pal Singh Kaler): A special meeting of the secretaries of Verka Milk Producers Co-operative Societies was held at Sahib Dhaba, located near Kathgarh. Sharing crucial information regarding this, Advocate Sanjeev Chaudhary Chechi stated that around 150 to 175 Verka societies are operating in the Balachaur area. Despite being the largest milk-producing region, from where 1.25 lakh to 1.50 lakh liters of milk is supplied to Verka daily, these societies historically lacked any official rights, membership, voting power, or their own regional director. Advocate Sanjeev Chaudhary Chechi further mentioned that he had been working relentlessly for a long time to bring a local Verka director to Balachaur for the first time in its history. For this purpose, a meeting of all society secretaries was called today, and detailed information regarding the process of passing resolutions was shared. These resolutions will be submitted to the Verka Head Office, after which the societies will receive membership and official rights. With this initiative, local directors from the region will be elected in the upcoming elections, and it is highly possible that the area might get two directors. Highlighting the efforts made to resolve this issue, he shared that he first met with the Animal Husbandry Minister. Following this, further action was taken by meeting senior officials, including Verka M.D. Rahul Gupta, the G.M., and MMP Gurdev, who oversees the entire management on behalf of the Punjab Government. Due to these combined efforts, this long-standing hard work has finally borne fruit.
