A community centre, Forest Estate Hub, in Surrey has had new facilities installed, thanks to the generosity of an army of volunteers. Staff from over 18 private companies, mainly within construction, came together to assist with the refurbishment, including a new disabled WC. The works are estimated to have saved the Hub around £25,000.

A thanksgiving celebration took place at the Hub this morning (Jan 28). Hub Manager Denise Brannan thanked everyone for their hard work and generosity. Guests included the High Sheriff of Surrey, Jim Glover, the Mayor of Runnymede’s Consort, Dr Brian Perry, Suzanne Stronge from Runnymede Borough Council and the Borough’s deputy mayor, Cllr Parshotam Sohi.

The Hub is located in Englefield Green, a village within Chancellor Philip Hammond’s constituency, Runnymede & Weybridge. Mr Hammond said: “Yet another shining example of effective partnership working to help add even greater value to the lives and livelihoods of people and communities. I was delighted to learn of the injection of funding which has enabled the refurbishment of a much-loved community asset.”
